1. About this policy

This policy explains how PAYANGEL PTY LTD (ABN 13 685 159 497, ACN 685 159 497) (“PayAngel”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our Australian website and in the PayAngel app.

It applies to PayAngel’s Australian service only. Other companies using the PayAngel name operate in other countries under other laws, and their policies do not apply to you.

Where cookies and similar technologies collect information about you, we handle that information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Our Privacy Policy explains how, and this policy should be read with it.

2. What cookies are, and when they are personal information

Cookies are small text files a website places on your device. They let a site recognise your device and remember things such as whether you are signed in.

When cookie information is personal information

An identifier such as a cookie ID may not identify you on its own. It is personal information where you are reasonably identifiable from it — either by itself, or when combined with other information we hold about you. Where that is the case, the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles apply to it, and you have the rights set out in our Privacy Policy.

This is the same position stated at section 12 of our Privacy Policy. If the two documents ever differ, the Privacy Policy prevails.

3. What our website uses

Our Australian website uses strictly necessary cookies only. These are the cookies the site needs to work — for example to keep a page secure, to balance load across servers, or to remember your progress within a session. Without them, parts of the site will not function.

What our website does not use

As at the date of this policy, our Australian website does not use:

  • performance or analytics cookies;
  • advertising or targeting cookies; or
  • cookies set by Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insights or any similar third-party analytics or advertising service.

We state this because the point of a cookies policy is to tell you what actually happens. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect, not after.

4. If we add analytics or advertising

[TBD — Daniela: whether analytics or advertising technology will be added to the Australian website before launch, and if so which providers. This section must be completed, and the policy re-issued, before any such tag goes live — not afterwards. If nothing is to be added, say so and this section is deleted.]

If we do add them, we will say here what each one is for, who receives the information, and what you can do about it. Where a provider is located outside Australia, Australian Privacy Principle 8 applies: we remain accountable for how that provider handles your information, and we will identify the countries involved.

5. The PayAngel app

Our service is provided through the PayAngel app. The app does not use browser cookies. It does use technologies that serve a similar purpose:

  • Device and installation identifiers — so we can recognise your device, keep your session secure, and detect a sign-in from a device we have not seen before.
  • On-device storage — so the app can remember your settings and your progress without asking you to enter the same information twice.
  • Diagnostic and crash information — so we can find and fix faults.

We use this information for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting and to understand how the app is used. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and who we share it with.

6. Your choices

On our website

You can control cookies through your browser. Most browsers let you see what cookies have been set, delete them, block them from particular sites, or block them entirely. Where to find these settings depends on your browser — look for privacy or site data settings.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of our website working. That is not a penalty; those cookies are what makes the page function.

On your device

Your device settings let you reset or limit advertising identifiers, and control what apps may access. The app’s own settings let you control notifications and permissions.

Asking us

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Our Privacy Policy explains how, and how to complain if you are not satisfied.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Where a change is material — for example if we begin using analytics or advertising technology — we will tell you before it takes effect, rather than relying on you noticing a new date at the top of this page.

The current version and its effective date are shown at the top of this policy.

8. How to contact us

If you have a question about this policy, or about how we handle your personal information:

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Our Privacy Policy sets out that process.
